Glossary of Amazon seller jargon, acronyms, and IP terminology.

  1. AH: Account Health
  2. AHR: Account Health Rating
  3. ASIN: Amazon Standard Identification Number:
    • It’s a unique identifier of 10 letters and/or numbers for a product that’s assigned by Amazon.com. It’s primarily used for product-identification within their product catalog of billions of items.
    • For books, the ASIN is the same as the ISBN number. For all other products, a new ASIN is created when an item is uploaded to Amazon’s catalog.
    • Note: ASINs are only guaranteed to be unique within a marketplace. That means different national Amazon sites may use different ASINs for the same product.

  6. FBA: Fulfillment by Amazon
  7. FBM: Fulfillment by Merchant

  8. FC: Fulfillment Center
  9. GTIN: Global Trade Item Number. The GTIN is a globally unique 14-digit number used to identify products in trade or services. GTIN also includes the entire family of UCC.EAN data structures. The following are included in the GTIN data family:
    1. GTIN-12 (UPC)
    2. GTIN-13 (EAN-13)
    3. GTIN-14 (EAN/UCC-128 or ITF-14)
    4. GTIN-8 (EAN-8)
  10. IDR: Invoice Defect Rate: definition: “IDR is defined as the percentage of orders for which you failed to upload a bill by midnight of the first business day after the buyer places an order.” See “Invoice Defect Rate”
  11. ODR: Order Defect Rate
  12. PL: Private Label
  13. PR: USPTO Principal Trademark Register.
  14. SFP: Seller Fulfilled Prime

  18. TMOG: Trademark Official Gazette. Published every Tuesday by USPTO, includes marks that have passed initial review with examining attorneys. Allows competitors to file opposition to final registration of the mark on principal or supplemental trademark register.
  19. VTR: (Valid Tracking Rate): the percentage of merchant fulfilled packages that have a valid tracking number
